The Colima Attorney General's Office reported that, after more than a year of investigations, 44 bone remains were found in 44 clandestine graves in the community of Agua de la Virgen, in the municipality of Ixtlahuacán. The local Attorney General's Office expressed its willingness to collaborate in this investigation.

In response, the FGR agreed to hold a meeting where the investigative actions carried out would be presented. On Tuesday, April 29, the local Attorney General's Office communicated the invitation to this meeting in Mexico City. Representatives from the FGR, members of search collectives from Colima, and the head of the Specialized Attorney's Office for the Investigation of Missing Persons, Héctor Javier Peña Meza, participated in the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide forensic profiles and exchange information to contribute to the human identification process and strengthen the ongoing investigation. The FGR had initiated the investigation on the property in Ixtlahuacán following findings in a lot in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, related to cases of missing persons.

The efforts to locate and intervene in the bone remains in the clandestine graves of Agua de la Virgen in Ixtlahuacán were carried out between January 13 and April 12, 2024, as reported by the state Attorney General's Office. The search collectives requested the Federal Government to share the information obtained from the properties related to missing persons.
